My face betrays me…

Our book club has made me realize something about myself: I make faces when I read. Reading in public has brought to my attention that I’m not fully in control of my expression. Although, I find this ironic given that appearing stoic is a criticism I’ve encountered in my professional life. (When the term RBF became popular, I secretly felt vindicated.) In an effort to keep up with my Marked and Mailed crew, I grab opportunities to read where I can. Bleachers, sidelines, parking lots, and lobbies are all great places to pick up some pages. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be reading snuggled in my bed or on the couch, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. Public reading only becomes a problem when I’m fighting tears reading Theo of Golden, cringing at Yesteryear, or rolling my eyes over The Art Thief. Not to mention all the times I laugh out loud reading the comments from my friends. Maybe that’s the sign of a good book— we just can’t keep it to ourselves.
